Adventure cycling on the Romantic Rhine

Follow the Rhine cycle path downstream in the direction of Sinzig / Remagen. The well developed Rhine cycle path runs directly along the Rhine and is very well passable. Passing the "Bootshaus Sinzig", this route runs over a beautiful wooden bridge over the river Ahr in the direction of Remagen. Opposite the Ahrmündung nature reserve, you can see Ockenfels Castle. Shortly before the Rhine promenade in Remagen, the Peace Museum is located in the bridgehead of the former "Bridge of Remagen". Interesting is also the view to the other side of the Rhine. A black hole in the middle of the Erpeler Ley hides a mining tunnel system. After a short time you reach the newly designed Rhine promenade of the town of Remagen. Continue cycling north with a view of the impressive Apollinaris Church. Before reaching Oberwinter, it is also worth taking a look at the other bank of the Rhine. Unkel, with its numerous historic buildings, has a Rhine front that is particularly worth seeing. In Oberwinter there is a small marina on the Rhine. A few kilometers further on, Remagen-Rolandseck is reached. The Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck is the end point of this route. The Drachenfels castle ruins rise up on the other side of the Rhine in a northerly direction. This is where Siegfried is said to have defeated the dragon living there in the Nibelungen saga. It is recommended to take the train back. Trains depart from Rolandseck every hour, from Oberwinter or Remagen every half hour.
