Taster tour on the Vulkan-Rad-Route Eifel for pedelecs (Nürburgring-Adenau-Nürburgring)

If science is to be believed, the earth was created around 13 billion years ago from a big bang. In comparison, 10,000 years feels like the blink of an eye. "Only" 10,000 years ago, many volcanic vents bubbled in the Eifel and the earth vibrated. These traces of the mighty past are still visible today, dry maars can be walked through and volcanic craters can be circumnavigated. The Nürburgring, Germany's most famous race track, is also a hotbed of activity, with tires glowing, engines vibrating and crowds of spectators "seething".

A little taste of this "hot" past can be experienced on the taster tour of the Eifel Volcano Cycle Route.

On the way, you can discover the world of motorsport on a backstage tour and follow in the footsteps of Knight Ulrich on the former volcano "Nürburg" in the ruins of Nürburg Castle.

The route continues through meadows and fields to the small town of Adenau, where the taster tour ends at the market square.

There, restaurants and cafés invite you to linger before returning to the starting point.

We leave the info°center at the traffic circle and take the third exit in the direction of Nürburg (approx. 1 km).

At the "Nürburg" traffic circle, continue straight on in the direction of Antoniusbrücke. Turn left, cross the Antoniusbrücke bridge and immediately turn left again. We follow the Kirchweg parallel to the race track until we reach the main road in Nürburg. There we turn right onto the main road and after approx. 80 m turn half left into Burgstraße. After approx. 30 m we turn left into Lächenweg and follow this out of Nürburg. After approx. 800 m we pass the Burgweiherhütte and head downhill towards Quiddelbach. This section of the route is partly gravel. After a sharp left-hand bend, we turn right shortly before Quiddelbach towards Herschbroich. After approx. 800 m, the farm track becomes an asphalt road again, which meets the L 92. We cross this and cycle along Nürburger Straße through Herschbroich. From here, the route continues on classified roads to Adenau town center. At the end of Herschbroicher Straße, we turn right onto Trierer Straße in Adenau/Breidscheid and follow it to the REWE-Center. There we turn left into the street "am Broel". After 300 m, we turn left into the street "Im Straußenpesch" until it rejoins the main road. We turn left onto the main road and follow it to the market square and the destination of our tour.
