Oberwinter circular hiking trail 2 - from Rolandseck around the Rodderberg

The route is very varied and offers opportunities to stop for food and drink. The start and end point of the route is a parking lot directly opposite Rolandseck station. At the Rolandseck station there is the impressive Arp Museum, so this route can also be combined with a small cultural program. On the upper floor of the station is a restaurant. The route leads uphill past the Humboldstein House up to the high plateau of the Rodderberg. The incline is moderate and easy to manage. On the Rodderberg the route makes a circular loop passing several beautiful viewpoints. The endpoint of the circular route is the Rolandsbogen where you can take a break in the restaurant/café. From here it goes back into the Rhine Valley and to the starting point of the route, passing the Freiligrath Memorial.
The start and finish point of the route is very conveniently located, the route begins with an ascent through the forest, the paths are easy to walk. In total, 166 meters of elevation need to be overcome, but the slopes are moderate. Part of the circular route on the Rodderberg goes along a small, paved road. All other paths are well designed and easy to walk. The descent from the Rolandsbogen along the Freiligrath Memorial follows a cobblestone path.
