Wensburg - circular route from/to Ahrbrück

This varied circular hike starts at the cemetery parking lot in Ahrbrück and initially leads steeply uphill. Before the first 180-degree bend, the well-maintained hiking trail (Pütztal) turns onto narrow paths that lead through the forest. Here, there are repeated views of the "Hangarsch", an area particularly known for its free-roaming mouflons - with a bit of luck, you can observe these animals in the wild.

After reaching the Linder Höhe (488 m), the trail leads downhill along ancient paths to the Laubachshof. From there, the trail continues uphill to the ruins of the "Wensburg" castle, which is privately owned.

The way back leads through the idyllic Liersbach valley to Liers, then along the Ahr past Hönningen until you finally reach the starting point of the hike in Ahrbrück.

On arrival at the Linder Höhe (488 m), there is a magnificent view over the Ahr-Eifel as far as the Siebengebirge. The short detour to the crib chapel on the Linder Höhe is well worthwhile.

After crossing the Linder Höhe, you descend into the idyllic Liersbachtal valley. Once in the Liersbach valley, the route first crosses the K28 and the Liersbach over a small stone bridge, then begins the ascent to the privately owned ruins of the "Wensburg" castle.

From the castle ruins, the trail descends back to the Liersbach to Laubachshof. At Laubachshof, follow the path on the right through the picturesque Liers valley to Liers. In the center of Liers, turn left past St. Bartholomew's Chapel and follow the Ahrtalweg towards Hönningen.

The footpath and cycle path runs alongside the Ahr through the beautiful floodplain landscape. Picnic spots along the way invite you to enjoy the peace and quiet and listen to the Ahr before reaching the starting point of the hike in Ahbrück.
