Clemens-de-Lassaulx-Route (circular route from/to Adenau)

The namesake of the route, Clemens de Lassaulx, as district chief forester in Adenau in the 19th century, made a significant contribution to the now fertile forest area around Adenau through an extensive and sustainable afforestation program with pines and spruces. The hiking route initially leads over the Kirchberg to the highest point of the tour: the Clemens-de-Lassaulx-Hut. On a short break, there is a beautiful view over the town of Adenau and towards Honerath. The route leads through dense mixed forest to the historic way of the cross of the town of Adenau. The cultural monuments invite you to linger. After passing the Mount of Olives grotto, the route leads back through the picturesque Kollengasse to the historic marketplace.

Highlights on the way:

  • View from the Clemens-de-Lassaulx-Hut
  • Section of the historic way of the cross
  • Historic town center of Adenau

The start of the route is at the hiking car park "Dr.-Creutz-Platz" in Adenau. Via the Kirchberg, after about 2 km, you reach the highest point of the route at 445 meters elevation, the "De-Lassaulx-Hut". The route then continues over a section of the historic way of the cross. The route leads through the picturesque Kollengasse to the historic marketplace with its colorful half-timbered houses, before returning past the guild fountain to the starting point. The route can also be hiked starting from the historic marketplace through the Kollengasse and over the way of the cross in the opposite direction.

The route is continuously signposted with the route name.
