Bad Neuenahr circular route no. 4 - Through the Wingsbach up to wooded heights

The picturesque Wingsbachtal with the small babbling brook forms the calm and relaxed beginning of this hike. Then it goes uphill through the forest, through the Hungertal, and over the ridge of Schnälzhardt back towards the Ahr valley. Along the way, two tree giants draw attention, and the crowning conclusion of the route is a fantastic view of the Ahr valley and Ahrweiler.

The circular hiking route starts at the Quarzkaul hiking car park above the Calvarienberg monastery. From here, it first follows the Wingsbach and then continues on a wide path to the Maibachfarm. Along the way, meadows, pastures, and individual groups of trees stretch out on the valley floor. Shortly before the entrance to the Maibachfarm, there is a small path leading uphill into the forest on the right. Initially, the path runs along the fence of the vineyard area until it reaches a bench on a wider path. Then it goes downhill again over the Wingsbach and on the other side of the stream along a wide forest road following the stream.

After the path crosses the Wingsbach several times, it moves away from the stream and leads into the Hungertal. From here, it goes uphill again into the forest through coniferous and deciduous forest sections up to two stately Douglas fir trees. Then, after a short ascent without significant incline, it continues through a beautiful pine forest. After about 2 kilometers, the path only goes downhill through a beautiful mixed forest to the edge of the forest and the vineyard above Ahrweiler. Along the vineyards, the route then leads back to the hiking car park.
