Tour
Partner route of the Eifelsteig: Eifeler Quellenpfad E2 Blankenheim - Nettersheim
The stage leads from the Ahr source in a half-timbered house in Blankenheim through the beautiful Urft valley to Nettersheim. It is accessible year-round and with its diverse highlights along the path something for the whole family.
This stage is also shaped by the well-known Eifel rivers (in this case the Ahr and the Urft). Especially worth seeing is the source of the Ahr beneath a half-timbered house in romantic Blankenheim. Fresh spring water from the Ahr was delivered to the Counts of Blankenheim in the Middle Ages through a high-pressure pipeline and the Tiergartentunnel, along which this hiking stage also passes. Then it continues through the Urft valley, past Roman relics such as the "Green Pütz" near Nettersheim, until reaching the Nature Center in Nettersheim.
Highlights along the way:
- Historic town center Blankenheim with Ahr spring, castle and
medieval Tiergartentunnel
- Urft valley
- Fox cave near Marmagen
- Gillesbach valley
- Eifelblick Königsberg
- Green Pütz (former spring collection of the Roman water pipeline to Cologne)
- Eifel Nature Center with exhibitions on archaeology, geology,
nature and culture of the Eifel, including a seawater aquarium and
adjacent farmer's garden
