19th Ahrtaler Gipfelfest: Along the Ahr to the estuary

The start (and end) of the small summit loop is at the foot of Sinzig's town hall and the late Romanesque basilica of St. Peter, at Sinzig's church square.

From here you reach the next attractive point on the route, Sinzig Castle, built in neo-Gothic style on the foundations of a medieval moated castle. The hike leads through the castle park (https://www.sinzig.de/tourismus-und-veranstaltungen/sinziger-schloss/) along the Dreifaltigkeitsweg to the banks of the Ahr. Here you cross the Christinensteg footbridge and the hike continues along lush green meadows and offers beautiful wide views of the unspoilt "Ahrmündung" nature reserve.

The trail leads past the natural spectacle of the Ahr estuary (the only remaining natural or renaturalized estuary of a tributary to the Rhine) to the boathouse, the clubhouse of the Sinzig water sports club. A varied program for young and old awaits you here (including a trial canoe trip). With a beautiful view of the Rhine, you can recharge your batteries with a piece of cake or a delicious drink. Here at the boathouse you will also find the stamping station and competitions with attractive prizes.

From the boathouse, you pick up the trail again and (due to the ongoing reconstruction) return to the starting point at the church square via the industrial area.

At the end, the varied gastronomy around the church square, Bachovenstraße and the market square invites you to linger.
